something short and sweet…again

To all 500 of you…

My dear readers; my friends of the Internet – It was precisely today one year ago that I wrote my very first letter of appreciation to the 200 readers that formed this community. I am writing this letter now, as the very same community expanded to 500.

500 of you who have made this blog much more than a place that houses my own thoughts and feelings – you have transformed it into a place of discussion, a platform to connect and share opinions and advice. I have had the immense pleasure of getting to know so many of you, exchanging stories, collaborating with each other and ultimately, supporting each other.

This itsy bitsy corner of the Internet has been a safe haven for me this past year. It has been a space that allowed me to document, express myself, connect with so many like-minded creatives and truly grow as a person. There are not enough words to describe how much this little Internet nook has helped and benefitted me.

Let me therefore, with all of that being said (or rather written), express my immense gratitude for each and every single one of you.

You.

The friend that makes this feel like a second home to me.

You, the reader that has encouraged me to grow and motivated me to always keep working hard on what I believe in.

You, the fellow blogger who has made this not a one- but a two-way street.

You have made this experience so far like no other.

And even though we are parted by countries, cultures or even oceans, there is one thing that ultimately ties us all together: This, this wonderful, beautiful passion of ours. Don’t ever lose your love for writing, for sharing, for expressing, for questioning.

Thank you.

With all my love,
Fiona x

  1. I have so much love for you and I cannot think of a person more deserving of 500 readers than YOU. This was so beautiful and I 100% feel the same way when it comes to blogging and this little community we’ve created on here, I’m so grateful for it. I hope we never stop writing xx

    1. Oh Chloe, this means so much to me, thank you. The communal aspect is definitely one of the most rewarding things about blogging, I mean I couldn’t imagine WordPress without your wonderful posts popping up on my reader! Grateful, grateful, grateful. Sending you a big virtual hug xx

  3. That’s such a beautiful photo of you! Congrats on 500! I love seeing your blog posts show up on my reader. Thank you for continuing to blog and for adding your unique voice to the blogging world. Thinking about how many blogs have come and gone since I started, I’m glad (in the words of Elton John) you’re still standing! And may it continue xx

    1. Aw thank you, Laura. This is such a lovely comment, it has me smiling from ear to ear! It’s crazy how many blogs just disappear without a trace and gradually we start to forget about the people behind them, stop wondering about their lives – hope to see you standing for many years to come as well xx

      1. It sounds bad but sometimes I worry if something has actually happened to them. And if something happened to me, would people know or would I be another blog who vanished online? I’ll need to write down a manual for my family lol. Sorry that’s quite morbid!

        1. The vastness of the internet can definitely be frightening sometimes. I tend to wonder the same things as you do – if anyone would notice, if they would stop to think what might have led me to delete my blog… And I like the idea of writing down a manual for family, haha, maybe I should do the same😂😂

          1. It makes total sense! Like dear family, sorry I’m not there. Please write the following message on WordPress, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest…P.S (I hope you now realise why blogging is so time consuming). haha x

  4. What a beautiful letter, Fiona. It is a pleasure knowing you as much as one can through this virtual medium and I know what you mean by this feeling called home. A second home albeit. It is the same feeling that makes me want to write here even though I had started my blog as a record of my travels (given that I have the memory of a pea). And even though I have slowed down on social media to a large extent, I do not feel the same about blogging. It is truly a wonderful thing as you say. xx

    1. What a kind comment, Dippy, thank you! Everything you wrote makes so much sense, I started my blog with such a clear idea of what I was going to write about and… Well, look at it now😂 And same, my friends like to compare me to a goldfish because of my bad memory hahaha. Blogging is its own medium in my eyes and I though it is a social platform I would never classify it as social media.
So glad to have connected with you on here xx
