The Astrology Archive – Pisces ♓︎

Welcome, welcome. This is an exciting day to say the least. This concept has been in the works for around a year and so I am delighted to introduce you to the second installment of The Astrology Archive.

WHAT IS THE ASTROLOGY ARCHIVE?

The Astrology Archive is a collaborative series by the wonderful Chloe and I and is centred around the different astrological signs. Each month, Chloe and I will be taking turns in going in depth about the individual star signs, their meaning and more.

Both of us carry a huge interest for the whole field of astrology, so we hope that by starting this series, we will not only expand our own knowledge but also yours.

HISTORY & MYTHOLOGY OF PISCES

Pisces is the 12th astrological sign in the Zodiac, following Aquarius, and is symbolised by fish. The symbol of the fish originates from the “ichthyocentaurs“, that were a race of sea gods with the upper body of a human, the lower front of a Horse, the tail of a fish and lobstet-claw thorns on their heads. The ichthyocentaurs aided Aphrodite when she was first born from the sea.

The symbol (♓︎) pictures two fish that are connected by a string, typically by their mouths or tails. The most common image is that of the two fish faced in opposite directions, which symbolises the duality of Pisces.

There are a variety of myths behind Pisces. One Greek myth claims that Pisces represents the fish into which Aphrodite (also known as Venus) and her son Eros (also considered cupid) transformed to escape the Typhon, known as “the father of monsters”. Another is that the fish “Pisces” carry Aphrodite and her son out of danger.

Some tropical astrologers claim that the current astrological age is the age of Pisces (which will end 2150), while others argue that the age of Pisces ended 2012 and that it is now the age of the Aquarius. Believers of the former state that the age of Pisces will last for another 600 years.

RELATIONSHIPS

Pisces are known to be diehard romantics and can be described as loving and tender. They are fiercly loyal to their partners and have the need to feel a strong connection to their partners.

With their supportive attitude, endless loyalty and compassion, Pisceans make some of the best friends there are. When a problem or challenge arises for a friend or family member, they do not shy away and will be there for their friends and family in need. They are often deeply intuative and can sense when something is wrong long before it is spoken about.

Pisceans are expressive by nature which means they will not hesitate to express their feelings freely and openly. They prefer others to be as open as they are themselves and consider maintaining good relationships with loved ones to be of high importance.

    1. Really, wow, that’s so awesome to hear! There’s so much cheesy info on the star signs out there, it was actually kind of hard finding sources I deemed as trustworthy (and not just made up lol) so it’s cool to hear that my research panned out! 🙂

  1. I happen to be a Pisces, and you happen to be completely right. This is a very interesting topic. I love reading about the signs and relating the information back to people I have had personal experiences with. They tend to be amazingly accurate. Also, my blog is for teenagers. I just started it, but I want to create a place where we could all help each other, laugh, relate, and be 100% ourselves. I would love your help getting the word out. :)))

    1. Aaah, it’s always great to get confirmations from people who are actually of the star sign we are describing, thank you so much for your feedback! Also, I can relate 100%, I love to compare people to their star sign as well (and like you said, they tend to be scarily accurate sometimes). I’ll definitely give your blog a visit, sounds really interesting! 🙂

          1. I cannot believe it is going to be June next weekend! Time really has gone by some quickly. I find that some months go by so slowly but yet go by so quickly – it is weird.
