One of my favourite things to make when I want to treat myself (or when I’m feeling like unleashing my inner Southern housewife) is peach ice tea.
This recipe also makes for a delicious beverage for when you’re inviting friends over or hosting a little get-together, especially as it can be prepared in advance. It’s surprisingly easy to make and a cool refresher that adds just the right amount of sweetness to your day!

INGREDIENTS
3-4 peaches |
4 packets of black tea (used here: English Breakfast Tea) |
3 tablespoons of brown sugar |
1 tablespoon of lemonjuice |
750 ml of boiling water |
500 ml of cold water |
ice cubes |
optional: mint leaves (to decorate and add flavour), lemon/lime slices |

STEP 1: Make peach sirup 🍑
Ingredients needed: peaches, brown sugar & 250ml of boiling water
Wash your peaches, remove the core and slice them. Add the peaches to a pot along with 250 ml of boiling water and three tablespoons of brown sugar*. Bring the mixture to a boil and then leave it to simmer on medium heat for 10 minutes. Strain the peaches over a bowl or glass and leave the peach sirup to cool. If desired, the peaches can be kept and added into the ice tea (step 3).
*More/less sugar can be added depending on your preferred level of sweetness. Alternatively, you can also add some honey or agave sirup at the very end, if your ice tea is not sweet enough.

STEP 2: Make black tea
(STEP 2 can also be done whilst you leave your peach sirup to simmer!)
Ingredients needed: black tea bags, lemon juice, 500ml of boiling water
If you own a kettle → Boil 500ml of water in a kettle and pour into a container. Add the 4 tea bags and one table spoon of lemon juice. Let the tea steep for 3-4 minutes (or longer, depending on your preferred bitterness). Leave the tea to cool.
If you don’t own a kettle → Boil 500ml of water in a pot. Once boiled, add the 4 tea bags and one tablespoon of lemon juice. Let the tea steep for 3-4 minutes (or longer, depending on your preferred bitterness). Leave the tea to cool.

STEP 3: Mix!
Ingredients needed: peach sirup, black tea, ice cubes, 500ml of cold water, (optional: peaches from step 1, mint leaves)
Once the peach sirup and black tea have cooled down, take a large jug (should be able to contain 1,5 liters). If desired, take the strained peaches from step 1 and fresh mint leaves and place them into the jug (optional: along with some lemon / lime slices). Now add all of the remaining liquids (peach sirup, black tea + 500 ml of cold water).
Enjoy with ice cubes! 🍑🧊

Fiona, that video was gorgeous. I could watch it on repeat just because it’s so beautiful! And peach iced tea is one of my most favourite things in the world! I’ve made it a little mission of mine to taste peach iced tea in every city I visit (even though it does taste pretty similar. I think it’s just because I love the drink that much).
Seeing a post by you on my reader was just as refreshing as the idea of drinking that peach iced tea, so I’m super glad to see you here!

Thank you very much, Arshia, so glad you enjoyed my little video creation 🤗 And ooohhh, I like the sound of that mission… A LOT. I think the best peach ice tea I ever had was in Italy. It was a hot summer day and the feeling when that first sip of ice tea hit my taste buds… truly fantastico!
I know, I know… it’s been a while! But I am happy to be back & so ready to get cracking with some (hopefully) fun & exciting blog posts again!
